Socialising

If you share the same thoughts and beliefs as everyone else, it is very easy to make friends .  Children who are gifted may sometimes find it difficult to get along with their peers.

Testing gifted children

Many tests for gifted children are inaccurate. Some children show promise when they take the tests as six year olds, but later grow up to be average students. Others do not do well in the tests, but perform well at a later stage.

If a student, is gifted, he or she may find the curriculum very easy compared to other students of the same age , and will not need to study much. So schools will often promote gifted students to the next grade, so that they take more interest in their studies.

Raven Coloured Progressive Matrices is a test for gifted students administered in some schools to all pre 1st graders.  It is an offline test and takes about 45 mins to take it. The test can be used for students of ages 6 & up. It involves matching and circling numbers, remembering names and colors

John Hopkins CTY (Center for Talented Youth) has a program for gifted students. They test children scoring in the 97th percentile range and then offer special programs and classes.
